A collection of 20 flavorful soup recipes packed with comforting ingredients. Some are more hearty than others, and I even have a few options for the summertime too!
Must-Try Soup Recipes
While sweets are my speciality here on the blog, I have collected quite a few soup recipes over the years as well. After all, we need something to get us through these chilly Maryland winters, and hot cocoa only goes so far! Today I’m sharing all of my coziest soups in one easy guide. They’re perfect for enjoying around a fall campfire, under a blanket on a snowy day, or in front of the AC in July (I’m looking at you, summer corn chowder!) 😉
While I love all of these soup recipes, I highly recommend you try my chili recipe or creamy potato soup recipe. Frequently Asked Questions
Bread (we like artisan bread or sourdough bread), sourdough crackers, biscuits, and salad are all great pairings with any of these soup recipes. Feel free to coordinate your sides with your soup, like cornbread with chili, grilled cheese with tomato soup, and garlic cheese biscuits (add a pinch of Old Bay!) with crab soup.
It depends on the soup! Cream-based soup recipes like my creamy potato soup or cream of crab soup typically don’t freeze well since the dairy tends to separate as it thaws. Soups with noodles also typically doesn’t freeze well (but you can always cook/add the noodles separately if you do plan to freeze the soup).
Of all my soup recipes, my Maryland crab soup, chili or turkey chili, tomato soup, and potato leek soup freeze the best.
This can be done on the stovetop or the microwave. Just make sure to go slow and heat until warmed through, or you could risk over-cooking your soup the second time around.
Soup is one of my go-to dinner options since it easily packs in plenty of veggies and protein. It’s also usually mostly hands-off, which is a win in my book (especially after testing recipes all day!).
I hope you find a favorite (or two!) in this list of soup recipes. As always, if you have a favorite recipe but don’t see it here, please let me know in the comments. I love sharing reader requests!
Enjoy!
